Drawing Comics

As a comic book artist I wear a lot of hats - Choreographer, Cinematographer, Set Designer, Costumer, and the list goes on but my favorite 'hat' has got to be that of the 'Illusionist'. You see one of the coolest tricks we illustrators do is to take a flat piece of paper and somehow give it depth.

We may be bounded by panel borders top and bottom, left and right but we can go a near-infinite distance into the page provided that our pencils are sharp. In the process of getting there is this wonderful moment when the abstract lines going down on the paper suddenly take on form and volume becoming three dimensional and you feel like you could step in to the scene. Then the illusion is complete!

Draw what you can see.

Let your hand discover your imagination.
